A person's court cases

Find civil, criminal, family, traffic and probate cases about a person.

  1. Start with the statewide court search

Most states run one search that covers many courts. Open Courts, pick the state, and use the Start here links.

  2. Check the county court

If the case was filed locally, pick the county. Many county clerks run their own search.

  3. Check federal courts

Federal and bankruptcy cases are separate. PACER Case Locator searches them nationwide.

  4. Look for appeals

Appellate opinions are published statewide and are free.

  5. No online search?

Call the clerk of court or mail a written request with the name and date range.
